The Brief

Airbus is a leading aircraft manufacturer, with the most modern and comprehensive aircraft family. Airbus recognise that to be fully effective it needs to have a committed, energetic and healthy workforce and called upon the expertise of t-three to develop one of their already high-performing teams into a world class team.

What we did

To improve existing team work t-three introduced the team to Facet5's TeamScape module, which is specifically designed to support team integration and development.

All 8 team members completed the Facet5 psychometric receiving individual and confidential feedback on their Facet5 report with a t-three coach to build self-awareness of their own working preferences and the strengths and risks associated with these. t-three then introduced the TeamScape module to provide insight into the team's dynamics, modes of working together, likely conflicts, and particular strengths.

t-three delivered a one day team building workshop based around the Teamscape. The day started with team members guessing each other's Facet5 profile, factor-by-factor, to give evidence as to why they thought that would be the case. At the end of this session, each team member stated what his/her actual score was on each of the five factors. This exercise helped the team to recognise the assumptions that they had been making about each other for many years. These assumptions, which could be faulty, often see people confusing the requirements of the job with their natural preferences, causing them to behave in a particular way.

t-three then shared and explored the TeamScape reports with the team members. These overlaid and compared individual team members' Facet5 profiles to create a powerful visual image of the team's work style and preferences. In this way, team members were able to see the similarities and differences in their work styles and the impact of these on team members and the team as a collective. Using TeamScape, t-three carried out a full analysis of results, to find out what was worked for them and what was holding them back.

The Results

The Teamscape programme enabled the Airbus team to gain a better understanding of each other's preferences and behaviours and how play to these. They were also able to identify their individual strengths and risks based on their Facet5 profile and where they could add most value to the team. Based on the powerful insights gained from Facet5 and Teamscape, the team were able to work together to identify necessary action to be taken in order to reach full potential and deliver on their strategic business objectives.
